Bureau Veritas Certification Hosts Customer Day in South Africa Focusing on Sustainability and Cyber Security
Oct. 7 2024
The Bureau Veritas Certification Division held a successful Customer Day event on the 4th of October 2024 at The Capital, Sandton, Johannesburg, South Africa. The event brought together current Bureau Veritas clients to engage on critical developments in Sustainability and Cyber Security—two pillars of growing importance in today’s global business landscape.
The day began with an official welcome from Gavin Hefer, Area Chief Executive Officer of Bureau Veritas Southern Africa, and George El Ibry, Director of Certification Growth Market for Bureau Veritas Middle East, Caspian Sea, and Africa. Head of Sales, Marketing and Sustainability Southern Africa, Mellony Ramalho, presented Bureau Veritas corporate services.
Keynote Presentations on Cyber Security and Sustainability
A highlight of the event was a presentation by Bogdan Tobol, Global Product Manager for Cyber Security, who underscored the need for organisations to adopt comprehensive cyber security strategies. He spoke about the increasing complexity and frequency of cyber threats and emphasised that businesses must ensure their digital infrastructure is resilient. Bogdan also outlined best practices in data protection, threat management, and risk mitigation to help organizations safeguard their sensitive information and operational processes.
Following this, Sandrine Pfister, Sustainability Market Leader for Africa, delivered an insightful presentation on the current ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) landscape. She discussed how organizations could enhance their sustainability efforts by aligning with globally recognised standards. Sandrine emphasised the role of Bureau Veritas in helping clients meet their sustainability goals through comprehensive solutions that address regulatory compliance, sustainability reporting, and continuous improvement in performance.
Alignment with the LEAP | 28 Strategy
Both presentations tied directly into Bureau Veritas’ LEAP | 28 strategy, which positions Bureau Veritas to be preferred partner for customers' excellence and sustainability. The strategy is based on three pillars: focused portfolio, performance-led execution and an evolved people model, that will define tactics, actions, and decisions that will support customers in achieving their sustainability journey and cyber security excellence.
